I'm not sure you will get that many comments on this question on an LE sight but I would have to agree. I don't watch the episodes as closely as I used too because, to be honest, most of them have been so lack lustre and boring this season that they have failed to hold my attention but I have noticed that HL has looked pretty ragged on screen. They also don't seem to be able to make their mind up about the hair thing either, in some scenes he looks balding in others the hair is there.

As to why this is, I don't know. Their lighting and makeups and hair people seem to be the same, perhaps they aren't putting in as much attention to detail as they used too. Also they have had a lot of new directors this year so the shots of HL may not be as complimentary as those set up and lit by a more experienced director. Perhaps due to his music committments late last year HL just looks more tired and they makeup people had trouble covering that up. Who can say??

Season 8 certainly isn't their best work.

lol! yes I saw this too with his hair, he was bald in the beginning of the season.

I suppose its a relief that the 'dead ferret' hasn't been glued to his head this year. That thing was begining to look very odd.

I haven't watched anything from this season, so my input is limited at best. The longer, greasier hair he had in the prison promos was pretty gross IMO, but I would say that that worked for the character. A). it would make sense that someone in prison doesn't necessarily have access to the products that would make you look good and B). it would make sense that someone so vile on the inside would have their appearance reflect that. As for everything else, again, I don't watch, but the bits of things I've seen he doesn't really look all that different.

That said, I have seen him in person twice in the last 6 months or so (once at a concert, once at a taping for Craig Ferguson; I'm not hiding out in his bushes). He looked really good both times. So I would not think that the problem is he's tired or aging, etc.

No screaming at me, "What, he looks gorgeous"...he doesn't. 805,(I think) was on tonight. An episode I was not following the first time...kinda had my eyes shut...but he looks...kind a used up, AND I think it is deliberate...maybe.

I can't comment on his appearance in S8, as I haven't seen any, though I did see the picture of him where he was competing with George Clooney for the crush worthy doctor thing and thought his hair looked ridiculous.

I've never really thought of Hugh/House as good looking or sexy, just not my type I guess.

I agree with you, House is no more the sexy guy we used to know, for me he looks like a grandpa now (and who's living with his daughter dominika).

He's depressed, he misses his Cuddy....that's why.... I don't watch season 8 but I see some excerpts so I see what you mean.

Hugh looks better in person. Younger and happier. I don't know what is going on with Dr. House's appearance this season but while it might be a character clue I'm wondering if it has something to do with budget cuts.

The character of House does not spend too much time worrying about what he looks like, and this is brought up multiple times through the series' eight-year run. It's symbolic; no one would think someone so unkempt would be a doctor or smart.

It totally does. Cuddy made him look sexy because Lisa was totally selling it with her acting. Cuddy found House desirable and through her eyes we found him sexier than he really is. Plus the way House acted around Cuddy was always a heated way, full of passion and desire. Now he can´t even pretend. He just looks like a tired grandpa.

You are right, House without Cuddy seems a lot less sexy. Guess it was the combined LE/HL magic that made House desirable.

oh no for me he was already less sexy in season 6, maybe because of his hair but in this season he looks older but hey Hugh is more than 50 now, and when you smoke a lot (and maybe drink) it doesn't help even if you use Loreal. ;-)

Well he'll probably be clean shaven and he probably wont have the dead ferret glue gunned to his head so you should be able to make a fair assesment as to his sexiness (or not). ;P
